Tell me it gets better

Posted by: mymilliondollarblog on: August 25, 2008

It happened, I knew it would sooner or later but I would of preferred later. Bug made me cry in public, Friday night she and I went to dinner with four other friends and one of the girls baby. I hardly got to touch my food, missed out on the majority of conversation and left the place in tears. She was wholly hell that night. She would not sit in a high chair or a booster, the crayons or toys wouldn’t distract her. She wanted to run wild around the restaurant and cry and whine the whole time. At one point I got up and took her out of the place with my hand clapped over her mouth because she was screaming at the top of her lungs. Not an ordinary scream either it was one of those high pitched shrills. I have never been so embarrassed in my whole life.  The table next to us actually requested to be moved and I don’t blame them I would have to.

I am not taking her back to a restaurant until she is a little older. I don’t want the hassle, wasted money or to mess up the other patrons dining experience. It will get better right?

The only laughable part about it is that one of the girls that was with us is about 6 months pregnant, I just wander what she was thinking.

I promise it will get better.

It’s just her age. Perhaps a little of the evening-time acompanied w/ the fact there was a ton of stuff going on around her?

Keep “training” her to behave like you want her to in restaurants. If she doesn’t “Pack it up & go home.” No if’s, and’s or butt’s.

Trust me, other parents thought “BTDT”.

OH I hope it gets better. I have a 13 month old and he trys my patience about 98 percent of the day.

I refuse to stay locked in my home tho… I am just trying the same approach that Irish mentioned above… :)
